I am an Alexandria native. I have been practicing yoga for 10+ years. My passion for yoga is ever growing, and it never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Yoga continues to reveal itself to me, and me to myself! I am trained in Ashtanga style yoga, (the 'grandfather' to styles such as vinyasa, flow, power yoga, hot yoga, bikram yoga). I also love and study Iyengar yoga.
My teaching style draws from my personal experience on the mat and all of my training. I do not strictly adhere to one tradition but rely on them to inform me, my instruction, and what I share with my fellow practitioners.
My style could be described as alignment based vinyasa, or slow flow, as I take the opportunities I have in class for teaching moments, and am creative in engaging students. I like to take, and make, time for the student to connect to their practice and explore how we can deepen that connection.
Going on 2,000 (1500+) teaching hours of experience I have the intention to provide a integrated, safe & fun yoga practice to any 'body' that is ready to take the journey. A journey I see to be a transformational one!
I also practice and love meditation, I love that it is 100% experiential, just like yoga! And really, it is yoga, it sits at the root of all 'postures' or 'asanas' and our practice. It is said that all yoga practices are performed to prepare the body & mind for meditation. I offer meditation techniques based in working with the breath and mindful awareness.
