My yoga training varies from Prana Vinyasa Flow® and Trance Dance® with Shiva Rea, to Breath work with Max Strom, Yin yoga with Heather Tiddens, Integral yoga with Santa Barbara Yoga Center, Prana Danda with Demitri Velisarius and Accessible yoga with Jivana Heyman and Amber Karnes. I have also trained with AXIS Dance Company in All-Inclusive dance in Oakland, CA. In addition, I have my certification from Rouxbe Culinary School in the Forks Over Knives Plant Based cooking lifestyle.
Moving in a flow through yoga postures, incorporating breath, body pulsations and nourishing the soul through movement. Not focusing on “perfect” external alignment in a posture, but the internal feeling of transformation and going deeper into your individual body to bring liberation and balance. We also embrace Pranayama (breath work) and Dhyana (meditation) to enhance your personal devotion.
I came to yoga via dance and a love of movement. I originally trained with Minnesota Dance Theater and performed at Chanhassen Dinner Theater. I moved to California to study theater and dance at University of the Pacific. Upon graduating I moved to Los Angeles while working in the film industry and found my love of yoga. I have been teaching dance and yoga for over 25 years.
I teach under the philosophy that every body is different and beautiful. We all come to a posture in a different way, we all practice for diverse reasons and I lead primarily with verbal cues. Yoga not only encompasses asana (the physical practice), but also meditation and pranayama (breathing), and the five other limbs of yoga. Our Western practice often only revolves around the asana (the physical practice), however, by studying all 8 limbs of yoga, everyone can practice yoga.
I recently moved back to Minnesota. I am so happy to share this gorgeous landscape and culture with my husband and 18-year-old son. We purchased a property on a beautiful local lake and look forward to lots of Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking, as well as, enjoying the flora and fauna. My dream is to create a wellness sanctuary and retreat center.
