Curvy Yoga

  • YogaOne 609 Broadway Street Alexandria, MN, 56308 United States (map)

Have you ever wanted to try yoga, but thought that your body wasn’t the “right” shape or size? Do you wonder what Namaste means or think because you can't bend over and touch your toes that yoga isn't for you?

If so, you won’t want to miss this Introduction to the Curvy Yoga Workshop on Saturday, aug 13th from 9:30-11am held at Yoga One. This workshop explores variations on poses using props to show you how to move into the physical practice of yoga in a body positive safe space. This workshop is appropriate for all levels, including beginners in bodies of all sizes, abilities and ages.

 During this workshop, you will:

  • Try yoga poses that actually work for your body, including ways to accommodate your curves
  • Practice accessible yoga in a welcoming environment
  • Show your body the love it deserves as you energize and restore

Note: Wear clothes you feel comfortable practicing yoga in.

Elisabeth Pletcher began practicing yoga in her early 40s and quickly realized the need to modify poses to work with her curvy, inflexible body.

Knowing she was not alone with this issue she traveled to Nashville, TN for the Curvy Yoga Teacher Training program led by Anna Guest-Jelley.  Through years of teaching she has learned to help students personalize a yoga practice that is specific to their unique body regardless of age, ability, body type or injury.

Together she guides students to connect their breath to their movement, working to gain not only strength and flexibility but to find a body positive, safe and supportive space on the mat and in the yoga studio.

While Elisabeth teaches students of all ages, abilities and sizes in a variety of styles, her true love is working with students who are new or returning to yoga. She is also certified in Yoga for Cancer Care.

More info on her teacher training and style can be found at
