Yoga nidra (Sanskrit: योग निद्रा) or yogic sleep) is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going-to-sleep" stage. ... The yogic goal of both paths, deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation are the same, a state of meditative consciousness.
Yin and Yoga Nidra with Melissa - Monday 6:30-8pm
No experience necessary. Yin and Yoga Nidra with Melissa combines the quiet yet energetic elements of Yin Yoga followed by the inward process of Yoga Nidra. The practice of Yin Yoga allows us to go a little deeper into our body as we move into each posture and hold up to five minutes. These are usually done seated or lying down with props. The purpose of holding these poses longer allows us to get into the fascia, the connective tissue that allows us more flexibility. In order to do this, we must “tune in” to our body, become aware of sensations and you may even enter a meditative state with each pose which is the perfect prelude to Yoga Nidra (Deep Healing Relaxation). Our final pose, Savasana, will transition us into the practice of Yoga Nidra where I will systematically guide you through your body allowing deep relaxation and healing to occur physically and mentally. A Sankalpa (intention or personal resolve) may be used during the practice to inspire health and wellness in mind, body and spirit. Yoga Nidra is helpful for stress reduction, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia and can bring about a general sense of well-being and peace.
